Manchester City have signed defender Eliaquim Mangala from FC Porto for a fee understood to be about £32m. The 23-year-old Frenchman who has been signed for five years expressed his joy on the club's website. He said,
"City is a top club in Europe."
"For me, it was an important step to leave Porto and join Manchester City in order to continue my progress.
"I want to win titles and I believe I can do this. I am ambitious and this is why I am here."
Mangala has become City's sixth summer signing and their second from Porto, after Brazilian midfielder Fernando joined for about £12m.
